A man in his 40s died on Tuesday night following a scuffle just before the England v Wales match at Wembley Stadium.

The Wales supporter, named locally as Mike Dye, aged 44, was taken to hospital at 7.20pm suffering from head injuries. A fight reportedly broke out near the exit turnstiles of the stadium. He died in hospital just before 9pm.

Six men have been arrested in conjunction with Mr Dye’s death. They are all reported to be Welsh; more rumours suggest that the scuffle may have broken out as a result of rivalry between Cardiff and Swansea fans.

Cardiff City FC, who Mr Dye supported, will be making a tribute to him at their next fixture which will be played in Doncaster.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police are now seeking witnesses to Mr Dye’s murder.
