Uxbridge student mugged
A Brunel University student was mugged whilst walking home from Uxbridge town centre last night.
Matt Rodgers, 21, was walking along Whitehall Road at about 12.30am on Thursday when a group of young men approached him. One said “Quick, give me your phone” before elbowing him in the face. Matt staggered down the road for a short distance before a second man hurled him to the ground.
The gang then went through his pockets and his bags, before making off with the mobile phone and Matt’s headphones. They held his head down whilst threatening to “smash your face” if he “made a sound”.
“This guy kept saying ‘I’m sorry mate, I got bills to pay'” said Matt. “I managed to say through the blood ‘yeah, so do I'”.
Matt made his way to Brunel University’s security office, a short distance down the road, where campus security took him to Hillingdon Hospital. He was released after 4 hours, and Brunel security drove him home.
Matt describes his attackers as a group of at least four men in their early 20s. One man was Caucasian and wearing a grey hooded top with stripes. A second man was of mixed race and was wearing a red hooded top, which was not up.
