Yesterday’s report that two women were killed in Southall was wrong; although two women were badly injured by a lorry, both of them survived the incident and are currently in hospital.

Police were called to 105 The Broadway just before 4pm. They found two women, one aged 60 and the other 76, trapped under a white articulated lorry.

Both victims were taken by ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. The 76-yr-old woman is in a serious condition with leg and pelvic injuries. The second woman, aged 60, has injuries to her chest and a broken waist but is otherwise stable.

A third woman, aged 36, was released with minor cuts and bruises.

One man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and has now been bailed until the end of September pending police enquires.

Police are appealing for witnesses to this serious accident. If you have any information please contact the Collision Investigation Unit, on 0208 998 5319.
