Fresh fire at Footlocker in Brixton
BREAKING: The Footlocker store in Brixton, which was set alight by arsonists during last week’s riots across the capital, has caught fire again tonight.
At least six fire engines, carrying 40 firefighters, are attending the scene along with police, after being called out at 11pm. Brixton town centre (Brixton Road) is currently closed due to roadworks but police are asking locals to stay indoors. Additional road closures were implemented by police to allow firefighters room to safely extinguish the fire. Some Twitter users are spreading rumours that gangs are in the area; however, there is no indication that this is the cause.
Given the obviously small nature of the fire (see right), it is possible that the fire was smouldering since the store was burnt last week.
Update: Police have no information as yet linking this fire to last week’s riots.
